| Altai
was the last puppy born in Maigan and Kenai's litter, arriving a
little while after the others. Once he was old enough to
interact with his environment he made it very clear that he
wanted to stay, getting to me and asking to be cuddled at
every possible opportunity.
A gentle, affectionate lad, Altai
spends a lot of his time wrestling with his sister Vixen,
racing around the garden and playing with his toys. He has
turned out to be one of the nicest natured boys I know, and
his calm temperament is a perfect foil for Vixen's rather
manic outlook on life.
In harness Altai tries very hard
and always puts a lot of effort into his work. He runs team
at the moment, and although he has also done some work in
lead and is very reliable in wheel. He seems to be a really
good all-rounder, able to turn his paw to most things that
are asked of him and he certainly rises to the challenge
whenever he is asked to work.
As a show dog he did pretty
well in his first year, qualifying for Crufts twice and
always placed at Championship level when he has been shown.
After some extra ringcraft to get him used to a handler
other than me, and time to mature more physically Altai will be going to a few more shows
in future, but at the moment his focus is on gaining fitness
and co-ordination in harness.
