Maigan
came to Wayreth in 2005 from the mid-distance Bogeyman
kennels in France. She is the result of a line-breeding on
one of Europe's greatest long-distance sled dogs - Dutch and
International Champion Zoltan of Chenok, and also carries
lines from the beautiful Dutch Champion Chris of Kolyma and
the famous French and World Champion Amarok's Sergei.
Her personality is quite incredible -
bright, sparkling, full of mischief and utterly tireless,
you can never be bored when Maigan is about. In harness she
has speed, agility and drive, but her stamina and recovery
rate set her apart from most other dogs I have driven. A dog
with a good appetite and a superb metabolism, Maigan has
taught me some of the fundamentals of a good long distance
sled dog.
Maigan has done fairly well in the
show ring as she loves the attention and definitely plays to
the crowd, but she is unhappy with the judging procedure and
as a result she is unlikely to be shown until she is older
and more comfortable with the idea of being handled by
strangers. Her natural reserve does not extend to the
working trail, and she is happy to greet any human who
offers to take her to the start line or helps her on with
her harness.
I feel honoured to have been
entrusted with this beautiful, lively and extraordinarily
mischevious little vixen, and her constantly happy,
mischevious outlook is a complete joy.
