| Miraq,
Shamanu's litter brother, came to us as a generous gift from
his previous owners and from Jay and Bernard Whiteley who
had looked after him for many years. He fitted into the pack
very quickly and his happy nature gave us all a great deal
of happiness. He ran a strong
enthusiastic wheel on my older team, and was quite reliable
in that position. He was never the brightest of dogs though,
so I rarely put him in lead, and especially not if I wanted
steering!
He was not much shown, but he did
quite well despite finding the whole experience excessively
exciting. He won 1st in Maiden in his first Championship
show and was placed 2nd in a large Veteran class at the 2003
SHCGB Ch. show.
Miraq was a charming, friendly,
enthusiastic chap who always got the most excitement and
enjoyment he could out of everything - an absolute gem. He
never really recovered from the shock of Shamanu's sudden
death, and had a stroke a week and a half afterwards.
Tragically he did not recover the use of his legs, and was
given sleep to prevent him suffering further exactly a
fortnight after Shamanu died.
Miraq was a creature with a heart
full of love and life, and although he was only with me for
five all too short years, he filled every day with fun. He
was the living proof of the saying "Second hand dogs give
first class love".
Run free with your brother my
dear - the world is darker and quieter without you. |
