| Volk was the third born in
Kenai and Rohan's litter and had a dramatic entry to the
world. He got stuck and had to be delivered by forceps at
the vet's. While she checked Rohan over, the vet handed me
this tiny scrap to rub dry and he took his first breath in
my hands.
A dog with a huge personality and a sense of humour to
match, Volk is always ready for a game or a run. He has
seemingly boundless energy and a very quick mind, which when
applied to useful things is a great advantage, but can make
him hard work to live with at times! He is absolutely
devoted to his brother Lupus, and the two of them are rarely
apart. I often look out to the dog run and find Lupus curled
up with Volk lying over him protecting him from the rain or
the sun.
Volk has run lead nearly all his life and has a real
talent for navigation. He excels when given a complicated
route to follow and he runs with drive and dedication. He
has good endurance, and copes well with heat, as well as
having strong feet.
In the show ring he has done very well at both Open and
Championship level. He has numerous Bests of Breed and Group
placings under specialists at Open show, notably Group 1 at
Dundee under Krystyan Greenland and Group 4 at Perth under
David Patterson.
As a puppy he went Best Puppy In Show at the SHCGB Open
Show, and as a veteran in 2006 he was placed Reserve Best
Dog at the SSHC Open Show.
Exuberant, happy, active, outgoing and unrepentantly
mischievous, Volk is a quintessential Siberian. |
